Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with a backend or distributed systems focus.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Ruby, Java, Python, or similar).
- Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable system architectures.
- Experience writing high-quality technical design documentation.
- Strong product sense with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams with product managers and designers.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience contributing to production operations, incident response, and system monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive end-to-end delivery of major backend and platform initiatives, from technical design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs that support business user features such as team management, spend controls, reporting, and ordering workflows.
- Produce clear technical documentation including design docs, architecture decisions, runbooks, and operational guidelines.
- Contribute directly to production codebases, conduct rigorous code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations, monitor system health, and resolve production issues with a focus on root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver cohesive user experiences.
- Mentor and support other engineers to improve team effectiveness and delivery velocity.
