Requirements

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and non-profit financial management.
  • Experience with bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for ocean conservation and the mission of Aeon for Ocean.
  • Previous experience as a treasurer or in a financial management role within a non-profit organization is a plus.
  • Ability to attend periodic meetings conducted during regular business hours in the Central Standard Time (CST) Zone.
  • Ability to dedicate a few hours per week.
  • Ability to commit for at least 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including income and expenses.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the annual budget, providing regular financial updates to the Board.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the organization's bank accounts, including deposits, withdrawals, and reconciliations.
  • Process invoices and ensure the timely payment of organizational expenses.
  • Work with external advisors to ensure accurate and timely filing of all required tax forms.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing sound economic policies and procedures.
  • Assist with any audits or financial reviews as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings, providing financial insights and updates.
  • Provide leadership to fundraising and grant writing teams.
