Requirements
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and non-profit financial management.
- Experience with bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks) is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for ocean conservation and the mission of Aeon for Ocean.
- Previous experience as a treasurer or in a financial management role within a non-profit organization is a plus.
- Ability to attend periodic meetings conducted during regular business hours in the Central Standard Time (CST) Zone.
- Ability to dedicate a few hours per week.
- Ability to commit for at least 6 months.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including income and expenses.
- Assist in developing and monitoring the annual budget, providing regular financial updates to the Board.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the organization's bank accounts, including deposits, withdrawals, and reconciliations.
- Process invoices and ensure the timely payment of organizational expenses.
- Work with external advisors to ensure accurate and timely filing of all required tax forms.
- Contribute to developing and implementing sound economic policies and procedures.
- Assist with any audits or financial reviews as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in Board meetings, providing financial insights and updates.
- Provide leadership to fundraising and grant writing teams.
