Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of professional experience, Associate’s with 5 years, or High School Diploma with 7 years.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Quiché and English with accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a law enforcement sensitive security clearance.
- Ability to obtain an ALTA Language certificate in Quiché and English.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM.
- Ability to transcribe/translate 18-22 minutes of recorded conversation per 8-hour shift.
- Available to work a minimum of 32 consecutive labor hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take technical direction and feedback.
- Ability to testify in legal proceedings based on completed work products.
Responsibilities
- Perform real-time translation of sensitive material from Quiché into English.
- Collect, analyze, identify, and decode colloquialisms and slang terms for law enforcement.
- Transcribe and translate source documents, audio files, video files, and digital media.
- Listen to oral intercepts and provide verbal or written synopses.
- Contribute to a master list of slang words and codes and maintain a voice library.
- Produce court-ready transcriptions and translations following specific format requirements.
- Log daily productivity and maintain record of work performed via government-approved systems.
- Operate specialized equipment including JSI voice box, Pen-link, and Comverse.
