Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of professional experience, OR Associate degree with 5 years of professional experience, OR High School Diploma with 7 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate and transcribe 18-22 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM.
  • Knowledge of source language colloquialisms, slang, SMS language, social media, and webchat.
  • Must be able to obtain a law enforcement sensitive security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain an ALTA Language certificate in Foreign Language and English.
  • Available to work a minimum of 32 consecutive labor hours per week, including flexible shifts such as nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to provide testimony based on completed work product.

Responsibilities

  • Perform real-time translations of sensitive materials from Brazilian Portuguese into English.
  • Transcribe and translate source documents and recordings from audio, video, or digital media.
  • Collect, analyze, identify, and decode colloquialisms and slang terms.
  • Provide verbal and written synopses of oral intercepts to law enforcement agents.
  • Maintain a master list of slang and codes along with a voice library for project duration.
  • Produce court-ready transcriptions and translations following required formats.
  • Operate specialized government-provided translation equipment such as JSI voice box, Pen-link, and Comverse.
  • Maintain a daily log of productivity and provide testimony based on completed work product.
