Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong exposure to distributed systems and backend architecture.
- Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
- Strong experience working with modern backend technologies such as Elixir, Java, Rust, TypeScript, or similar polyglot environments.
- Proven ability to design and scale high-performance systems under heavy load and real-time constraints.
- Strong experience with relational databases (especially PostgreSQL) and familiarity with caching strategies at scale.
- Experience with observability tools (e.g., Datadog, logging/monitoring stacks) and production incident response.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Experience working in high-scale domains such as gaming, sports betting, fintech, or real-time consumer platforms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction across teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of core platform services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability across distributed systems.
- Develop and optimize APIs and services (including GraphQL, gRPC, and REST) that power customer-facing applications and internal platforms.
- Build and maintain event-driven architectures and backend systems supporting real-time, high-throughput workloads.
- Drive system performance improvements through database optimization (PostgreSQL), caching strategies, and infrastructure tuning.
- Own observability and reliability practices, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and system health across production environments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to define technical requirements, identify edge cases, and ensure robust implementations.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, architectural guidance, and technical leadership.
