Requirements
- 8–12+ years of progressive DBA experience across Db2 (z/OS & LUW), SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on mainframe experience including TSO/ISPF, JCL, Linux, and Db2 utilities.
- Proven AWS experience running databases on RDS/Aurora and EC2.
- Expert-level performance tuning and query optimization.
- Strong command of backup/restore, replication, HA/DR, and business continuity.
- Practical automation skills with PowerShell, Python, Bash, and mainframe scripting (REXX, JCL).
- Solid grasp of security, compliance, audit practices, and encryption.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and incident leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain databases across Db2 for z/OS, Db2 LUW, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
- Manage schema design, indexing strategies, data partitioning, compression, and workload management.
- Implement and verify backup/restore, HA/DR, log shipping, replication, and failover strategies.
- Conduct deep performance tuning and remediate bottlenecks using database and cloud metrics.
- Enforce security baselines, access controls, and compliance requirements like SOX, HIPAA, and GDPR.
- Build infrastructure-as-code patterns and automate routine operations using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and REXX/JCL.
- Lead data migrations and modernization initiatives.
- Mentor junior DBAs and establish best practices and runbooks.
