Job Details

Experience: At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting

Requirements

At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting
Certification in RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC
Strong communication, analytical and research skills
Keen attention to detail
Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding
Knowledge of DRG assignment
Knowledge of legal and policy directives pertinent to coding
Familiarity with proper reference materials, standards and guidelines for coding
Experience using various EMRs and encoders

Responsibilities

Analyze and interpret complex medical records
Identify and accurately bill for Trauma 1 facility Inpatient services
Assign and sequence diagnostic and procedure codes
Ensure compliance with third party payor requirements
Obtain clarification for conflicting, ambiguous, or non-specific documentation
