Experience
At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting
  • Certification in RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC
  • Strong communication, analytical and research skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding
  • Knowledge of DRG assignment
  • Knowledge of legal and policy directives pertinent to coding
  • Familiarity with proper reference materials, standards and guidelines for coding
  • Experience using various EMRs and encoders

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret complex medical records
  • Identify and accurately bill for Trauma 1 facility Inpatient services
  • Assign and sequence diagnostic and procedure codes
  • Ensure compliance with third party payor requirements
  • Obtain clarification for conflicting, ambiguous, or non-specific documentation
