Requirements
- Hospital Inpatient Coding experience
- Multi-specialty coding proficiency
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS
- Knowledge of CMS, AMA CPT, and VHA/VA compliance standards
- Ability to review clinical documentation and resolve discrepancies
- Experience with electronic health records
- CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CCS-P certification
- Must pass all VHA background investigations and credentialing
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate, compliant coding of inpatient and outpatient encounters
- Review clinical documentation
- Validate code selections
- Support data integrity
- Meet established VA productivity and quality benchmarks
- Participate in audit activities
- Demonstrate strong multi-specialty expertise
