Requirements

  • Active CCDS or CDIP credential.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical documentation review experience in an acute care setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with VA systems and CAN Score methodology (preferred).
  • Active RN, MD, FMG, RHIA, or RHIT (preferred).
  • Experience with government contracts or VA Medical Centers (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Attend up to three 30-minute huddles daily (Monday–Friday).
  • Present documentation review findings within a 5-minute window per huddle.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of inpatient charts for high-risk patients.
  • Re-review charts during patient stays to maintain accuracy.
  • Abstract key clinical information for reporting and quality assurance.
  • Ensure work adheres to contract requirements and HIPAA/VA security protocols.
  • Collaborate with VA physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support onboarding of candidates as contractors.
  • Contribute to meeting VA KPIs and performance metrics.
