Requirements
- Must hold a current AAPC or AHIMA Certification for a minimum of 3 years
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional coding experience
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and medical terminology
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and state/federal Medicare reimbursement guidelines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience in a medical billing environment with strict HIPAA compliance
- Ability to research, analyze data, and resolve coding issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
Responsibilities
- Review and resolve assigned front-end claim holds
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with appropriate modifiers
- Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines
- Review medical records to determine appropriate codes
- Maintain a minimum of 90% coding accuracy
- Escalate client trends and coding questions to Coding Team Lead
- Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations, and payer policies
- Participate in department meetings and mentorship sessions
