Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years in an Architect, Staff, or equivalent senior-IC role.
- Hands-on experience reading, writing, and reviewing production code.
- Deep experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems at scale.
- Practical experience with Domain-Driven Design (strategic and tactical).
- Familiarity with decentralised architectural governance, RFCs, and ADRs.
- Experience working in regulated fintech, payments, or banking environments.
- Deep experience in security-first architectures, threat modelling, and key management.
- Strong perspective on modern AI/ML, LLMs, and applied AI in production.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture, microservices, and container-based apps.
- Strong experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
Responsibilities
- Own and facilitate the Architectural Advice Forum (AAF) to drive decentralised decision-making.
- Build production-grade Proofs of Concept (POCs) to validate architectural ideas.
- Partner with the CTO on AI strategy and identify high-value opportunities.
- Drive cross-cutting standardisation across backend, web and mobile engineering patterns and practices.
- Define and uphold engineering quality bars including testing, observability, and performance.
- Embed Security-First Architecture and threat-modelling across all systems.
- Champion Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture.
- Collaborate with the SRE team on reliability, incident response, and developer platforms.
- Coach and mentor engineers to raise the overall architectural bar.
- Surface and unblock systemic technical risks and technical debt.
