Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in database administration or production support environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022).
  • Experience with SQL Server Agent jobs, monitoring tools, alerts, and maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with Always On Availability Groups, replication, and high availability concepts.
  • Understanding of transaction management, locking/blocking, and query performance optimization.
  • Experience working in ITIL-based environments with incident, change, and release management processes.
  • Exposure to production support operations, patching cycles, and on-call rotations.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and support Microsoft SQL Server environments across production, staging, and development systems.
  • Ensure database availability, performance, security, and operational stability for business-critical applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues including performance degradation, blocking, deadlocks, connectivity issues, and job failures.
  • Manage database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, index optimization, integrity checks, and statistics updates.
  • Support Always On Availability Groups, replication, and high availability/disaster recovery configurations.
  • Manage database access using role-based access control and Active Directory, ensuring least-privilege enforcement.
  • Monitor database health using enterprise tools and proactively address performance or capacity issues.
  • Participate in incident management, change requests, patching cycles, and on-call rotational support.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams during incidents, deployments, and audits.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and support root cause analysis for production issues.
