Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience
- 3–5 years experience in high voltage substations or transmission infrastructure
- Proficiency with structural design software (RISA, RAM, STAAD)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of IBC, ASCE 7, NESC, IEEE, and utility standards
- Experience interpreting geotechnical reports
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering efforts for utility substation projects
- Review project documents and develop structural Basis of Design (BOD)
- Design and size shallow and deep foundations
- Perform load calculations and develop structural models using FEA tools
- Coordinate with geotechnical engineers to integrate foundation performance
- Prepare structural drawings, elevations, and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit
- Coordinate with electrical engineers and equipment vendors
- Support client-facing meetings and resolve technical comments
- Provide input on internal design standards and QA/QC processes
- Serve as a technical mentor to junior structural engineers
