Requirements
- Direct abstraction experience within the STS General Thoracic (GTS) or Adult Cardiac (ACS) registry within the last 12 months.
- Exposure to multiple electronic medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to maintain PHI security and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and self-organizational skills.
- RN or LPN credential preferred.
- Direct clinical experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Apply specialized clinical knowledge to hospital partners through coding and summarizing medical record information.
- Ensure high accuracy in data submission for specified registries.
- Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks under tight deadlines.
- Navigate EMR and registry/case entry tools and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, and abstraction guidelines.
- Stay current on regulatory and publicly reported data requirements.
