Requirements
- 7+ years of professional database analysis and engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (optimization, T-SQL, partitioning, HA).
- Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL (query planning, indexing, MVCC, partitioning).
- Production experience with at least one columnar/OLAP engine (ClickHouse preferred).
- Experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments.
- Track record of scaling systems to billions of rows.
- Strong SQL fundamentals including window functions and CTEs.
- Ability to read and reason about execution plans.
Responsibilities
- Audit current SQL Server DMP servers and produce a remediation plan.
- Diagnose and resolve SQL Server issues like index bloat, lock contention, and storage pressure.
- Enhance monitoring and alerting through SolarWinds.
- Lead the rollout of Airflow for orchestration.
- Design PostgreSQL schemas and ClickHouse structures for a new multi-tenant platform.
- Build ingestion processes for high-volume data and streaming.
- Model data for read performance using denormalized models and aggregation tables.
- Lead incident response and post-mortem improvements.
- Guide engineering teams on database optimization and best practices.
