Requirements
- Advanced degree in epidemiology, statistics, economics, public health, nutrition, or related fields.
- Substantial professional experience relevant to nutrition.
- Demonstrated ability to perform quantitatively oriented research.
- Experience in epidemiological or health economics modeling is a plus.
- Experience in program roles such as design, implementation, or monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in funding roles such as grantmaking or impact investing.
- Ability to synthesize empirical evidence and exercise thoughtful judgment.
- Comfort with iterative research and providing/receiving feedback.
- Ability to communicate effectively about complex research and uncertainty.
Responsibilities
- Shape a research agenda that brings rigor and creativity to the nutrition team.
- Perform rigorous evidence review and cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Design and oversee learning grants and impact evaluations.
- Build evidence base in new programmatic areas including primary data collection.
- Provide research support to grantmakers by stress-testing models.
- Mentor and advise other researchers on the team.
- Represent GiveWell to external counterparts.
- Identify and prioritize the most important research questions.
