Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven success in building and sustaining long-term relationships with high-value donors or fundraising stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience securing major gifts of $25,000+ and managing complex donor portfolios.
  • Strong track record in pipeline management, prospect tracking, and fundraising strategy execution.
  • Experience working collaboratively across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Solid understanding of fundraising principles, donor engagement strategies, and philanthropic best practices.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including to remote locations when required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 75–125 high-capacity donors, including individuals capable of giving $1M+ commitments.
  • Develop and execute donor engagement strategies, including cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities to achieve annual fundraising goals of $1M+.
  • Conduct high-touch relationship management, including approximately 125 donor visits and 275 engagement moves per year.
  • Build and maintain a robust donor pipeline, including prospect identification, research, qualification, and advancement through the giving cycle.
  • Lead direct solicitation efforts, including making asks and closing gifts of $25,000+ and higher-value contributions.
  • Collaborate closely with conservation teams to translate program impact into compelling donor communications, proposals, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and prospect records in CRM systems.
  • Plan and support stewardship events, donor visits, and engagement opportunities to strengthen long-term relationships.
  • Coordinate with regional and global colleagues to align fundraising strategies and share key developments.
  • Manage sensitive negotiations and projects, ensuring confidentiality, budget adherence, and organizational alignment.
