Requirements
- Five years of life underwriting experience.
- Proven foundation for basic financial underwriting.
- Ability to evaluate life financial supplements and sophisticated beneficiary situations.
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and non-medical risks.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for interacting with advisors and sales leaders.
- Analytical ability to assess financial operating reports.
- Undergraduate studies in medical, risk management, finance, or business preferred.
- LOMA Level 1 Certificate or ALMI designation preferred.
Responsibilities
- Receive, evaluate, and underwrite complex medical and non-medical life insurance applications.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of manuals, underwriting materials, and regulatory standards.
- Determine the need for and authorize medical examinations, blood profiles, and other evidence of insurability.
- Apply risk-based decision-making for accelerated and fluid-less underwriting processes.
- Coordinate automatic and facultative reinsurance within contractual terms.
- Interpret electrocardiogram tracings as evidence for applications.
- Consult with Chief Underwriter, medical staff, and other specialists on complex cases.
- Resolve challenges to improve time service, quality of submissions, and underwriting quality.
