Requirements
- Production experience working directly with containerd.
- Direct experience with Kata Containers, gVisor, or similar sandboxed runtimes.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes node-level operations (kubelet, CRI, PLEG).
- Expertise in Go systems programming (syscalls, namespaces, process lifecycle).
- Fluent in Linux isolation primitives: user namespaces, seccomp-bpf, capabilities, and Landlock.
- Strong technical leadership: proven ability to write design docs, prototype, and guide teams.
- Experience operating infrastructure with hostile/multi-tenant threat models.
Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture for how vNode wraps containerd, integrates with the kubelet, and exposes safe isolation primitives.
- Lead work on the interface between vNode, containerd, Kata Containers, gVisor, runc, and the kernel.
- Own vNode integration into the node lifecycle: CRI, kubelet device plugins, cgroups v2, and eviction.
- Run technical design reviews, set patterns for testing isolation, and mentor team engineers.
- Act as Customer Zero by testing vNode against vCluster Platform tenant clusters internally.
- Represent vNode externally, contribute to upstream projects, and write technical content.
