Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering management experience in cloud-native, data-intensive, or SaaS environments
  • Experience leading exceptional engineers and teams in early-to-mid-stage startups
  • Hands-on background as a software engineer or technical lead
  • Ability to contribute to technical discussions and trade-offs
  • Strong familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code
  • Experience leading teams building platform services, data ingestion systems, or large-scale data processing pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce secure SDLC and DevSecOps best practices
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Experience with healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7) or compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2) is a plus
  • Experience working on products with compliance requirements, ideally for CMS/HHS or other governmental agencies is a plus
  • Familiarity with data engineering technologies (e.g., Spark, data lake/lakehouse architectures, workflow orchestration) is a plus
  • Experience working in a remote-first environment and distributed teams is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, coaching, performance reviews and performance management
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance engineering culture
  • Hire, onboard, and retain exceptional engineering talent
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to build clear, achievable roadmaps and OKRs, and deliver with predictability
  • Lead and propose ways to continuously improve our Agile practices and delivery processes across the team
  • Track and improve engineering metrics such as code quality, and technical debt
  • Promote strong SDLC practices, including testing, CI/CD, security scanning, and operational readiness
  • Provide technical direction and participate in architectural decision-making for product and platform
  • Collaborate with Tech Leads to design systems that scale with high-volume healthcare data workloads
  • Champion reliability, observability, security, and cost-efficient architecture across services and products
  • Ensure alignment with compliance, privacy, and secure development standards
  • Work closely with Product, Compliance, Operations, and internal engineering teams to understand requirements and define priorities
  • Communicate effectively with both technical contributors and senior leadership
  • Help integrate platform roadmaps and technical strategies with company-wide initiatives
