Carbon Accounting Associate (Japan Market)

2 to 3 years in carbon accounting, GHG/decarbonization modeling, LCA analysis, or a related field. Business-level Japanese language proficiency (spoken and written). Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Strong working knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies and regulatory frameworks, including the GHG Protocol. Experience with a SaaS-based environmental or sustainability data management provider (a plus). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. High adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, independent startup environment. Strong Excel skills. Excellent communication skills, comfortable describing work at varying levels of sophistication. Proven research ability to solve problems and expand knowledge.

Set up client carbon accounting and reporting on the platform. Advise clients on efficient data collection methods. Provide expert advice on defining operational boundaries. Communicate the impact of emissions and decarbonization steps. Manage data inputs with attention to detail for accuracy and documentation. Calculate Scope 1-3 emissions using Excel and the company's software, demonstrating proficiency in the GHG Protocol. Replicate and review prior emission inventories against standards. Uphold data accuracy through collaboration with the team. Produce onboarding reports and presentations. Drive process improvement in data acquisition, cleaning, and conversion. Maintain and expand databases of GHG emission factors. Stay informed about emerging sustainability standards and protocols. Advise developers on software refinements aligned with industry advancements. Participate in continuing education opportunities.
