Engineering Manager, Backend

8+ years of software engineering experience At least 3+ years in an architect or technical leadership role Proven experience migrating legacy systems into cloud-native architectures Hands-on expertise with AWS or another major cloud provider Strong coding background (Java, Python, Node.js, or similar) Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional technical initiatives Excellent communication skills in a distributed, remote-first environment

Lead backend team to build GRPC and GQL APIs Write code, build reference implementations, and contribute to core migrations Manage and mentor a team Define and document architectural principles, patterns, and modernization roadmaps Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders Evaluate and adopt modern frameworks, platforms, and tools Champion best practices for performance, scalability, security, and operational excellence Partner with engineering leadership to prioritize technical debt reduction
