Requirements:
At least one (1) year of on-site consecutive or simultaneous interpreting experience. Two (2) professional references for on-site consecutive or simultaneous interpretation work. Minimum age: 18+ years or older. Minimum education: High School Diploma. Must reside within the state of Washington. Full fluency in English and Khmer (Cambodian). Possess one of the following accreditations: Washington State DSHS LTC, ATA, or accredited through a higher education institution. Must have an active Washington State Patrol background check or a higher clearance.
Responsibilities:
Provide consecutive or simultaneous on-site interpretation between government representatives and non-English speakers. Deliver correct concepts and meanings between speakers and Limited English Proficient (LEP) speakers. Ensure correct grammar, clarity, and tones in English and Khmer (Cambodian) interpretation. Follow speakers' direction, professionally interject for clarification, and manage conversation flow. Refrain from side conversations with LEP individuals and avoid disagreements with customers or LEP individuals. Comply with applicable ethics and standards. Interpret in education, healthcare, legal, medical, government, or court industries.
