VP, Innovation Lab

Advanced degree required: PhD, MD, or equivalent in life sciences or engineering. MBA or formal business training strongly preferred. 15+ years of progressive experience in biotech, pharma, or life sciences early-stage ventures. Hands-on innovation and early development leadership and success at the VP+ level. Incubator, startup, and entrepreneur-in-residence type experience is a plus. Demonstrated track record of strategic thinking and execution. Business acumen, with a strong understanding of ophthalmology preferred. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Innovative mindset that fosters unconventional thinking.

Shape and evolve the strategic direction and scaling of the Innovation Lab. Lead the Innovation Lab team on the current innovation candidate pipeline. Analyze bold, science-driven opportunities with the potential to redefine standards of care. Review and provide input on business plans for early-stage assets. Rigorously evaluate unmet needs and innovation white space. Navigate clinical, regulatory, and reimbursement considerations. Integrate a strong business lens into early development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams. Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership. Communicate complex scientific and strategic concepts with clarity and influence. Cultivate and supplement the existing network of KOLs, innovators, VCs, CROs, and academic partners. Evaluate early-stage opportunities for internal incubation or external collaboration. Expand upon frameworks for rapid iteration.
