Requirements:
  • Familiarity with accounting standards and a degree in Business Management/ Finance / Accounting or a related topic or tax.
  • Minimum 4 years of financial accounting & tax experience.
  • Experience in the financial services market would be useful.
  • Good awareness of US Sales and Use Tax (especially in Denver & Colorado)
  • Accounting knowledge to assist in calculating Sales/Use Taxes and tax accruals.
  • Proficiency in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets and perform complex functions) to maximize the efficiency and accuracy of tax processes, reconciliations, and tax return preparation.
  • High attention to detail to complete projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of Oracle and FCCS would be useful but not essential.
  • Self-starter with ability to interact with multiple teams and external advisors.
  • Good level of spoken and written business English.
Responsibilities:
  • Working with the wider finance team to collate the information needed to prepare Convera’s US indirect tax returns (Sales Tax, Use Tax, Person Property taxes etc.).
  • Learn to understand transfer pricing flows and how the operation of these impact on Use Tax (and eventually reverse charge GST/HST mechanisms in North America).
  • Monitor and assist with tax payments and other tax administration adjacent to the monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns.
  • Ensure that any Sales & Use tax suffered by the business is appropriate and that any Direct pay certificates or Sales & Use Tax claims are made and maximised where applicable.
  • Learn & understand our accounting systems across AR and AP and how to get tax specific information from them.
  • Support the development of tax compliance functionality.
  • Contribute to the implementation of ongoing systems development and improvements, and automated tools that impact tax compliance.
  • Help collate information relating to US/Americas tax audits and respond to notices from tax authorities.
  • Research tax technical issues.
  • Assist in advising the business on tax matters- supported by the Global Indirect tax lead.
