About CareMessage
CareMessage is pioneering health equity, building the largest patient engagement platform for low-income populations in the United States. Your work directly transforms lives for the 20 million patients we serve across 400+ safety-net healthcare organizations. We deliver personalized health education and care coordination through text messaging, meeting patients where they are. Backed by Google and Y Combinator, we craft technology specifically for historically marginalized communities, not adapted down from enterprise solutions.
How We Work
We are a fully remote team operating since 2019, with employees across diverse global locations. We champion an outcome-driven environment, valuing your contributions over rigid schedules. Expect clear documentation and a focus on asynchronous communication. Our core values—Collaboration, Action, Results, and Empathy—guide our interactions and decision-making. We invest in mentorship and actively support individual growth.
Engineering at CareMessage
You will solve complex challenges at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, data science, and high-volume messaging. Our Messaging and Applications teams build our core platform using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript/TypeScript/React, Postgres, and GCP, powered by Twilio. We are driving innovation in AI-driven message categorization and intelligent delivery optimization. Our Data and Clinical Integration teams architect data pipelines in GCP/BigQuery, dbt, and Python, connecting with EHRs via HL7 and FHIR using the Rhapsody engine. We embrace modern, AI-assisted engineering practices while upholding strict HIPAA/PHI compliance and security standards.
