Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3–5 years of prior direct cash handling experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Data entry experience.
- Basic to intermediate Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to read, speak, and write fluent English.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection for the home-based role.
- Ability to work independently from home in a quiet, dedicated workspace.
- Detail-oriented, able to multitask, and able to apply critical thinking to make independent decisions.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- 10-key calculator skills preferred.
Responsibilities
- Post manual and electronic patient and insurance payments, adjustments, and denials.
- Locate remittances and payments in portals and clearinghouses, and read and interpret EOBs.
- Apply copay, coinsurance, and deductible balances to patient responsibility.
- Review patient account balances to determine posting accuracy.
- Download payment deposits and perform bank reconciliations, daily cash reconciliations, and reporting.
- Research and resolve unapplied accounts, unidentified deposits, and posting issues in work queues.
- Prepare and reconcile local bank deposits for mailed patient, insurance, accounting, and other department payments when applicable.
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash funds and process point-of-service patient payments when applicable.
- Post monthly agency payment reports and identify and report trends or issues.
- Cross-train, assist with training, and provide team coverage or project support as needed.
