Requirements
- Bring 5+ years of experience building backend services in Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language.
- Be proficient with relational databases and SQL; the team uses Postgres.
- Have experience owning and operating production systems, including on-call and debugging live issues.
- Have experience with distributed systems, event-driven messaging, or microservices.
- Demonstrate a track record of taking ambiguous projects from design to production.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with engineering and product partners.
- Have experience or a strong interest in using coding agents and AI-assisted development day to day.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship Business Map backend service features from written design through production rollout.
- Own feature areas end to end, including tests, monitoring, and staged rollout behind feature flags.
- Work with engineers on partner teams as they adopt new location and organization data.
- Join the team's on-call rotation and fix the root causes of issues found there.
- Write designs for features and give code reviews.
- Help newer engineers through pairing and code review.
