Requirements
- Have 7+ years of backend software engineering experience.
- Bring hands-on expertise in Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot, including technical initiative or engineering leadership experience.
- Have designed and delivered complex, distributed, production-grade systems.
- Understand microservices, event-driven architectures, Kafka, SQS, relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and Redis.
- Have experience with financially sensitive systems such as billing, invoicing, payments, ledger, fee calculation or reconciliation platforms.
- Demonstrate architectural expertise in domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, service decomposition, bounded contexts and asynchronous communication patterns.
- Have owned technical architecture and engineering decisions while balancing scalability, reliability, delivery timelines and business requirements.
- Have strong API design experience, including RESTful APIs, backwards compatibility and integration patterns.
- Understand financial data integrity, transactional consistency, idempotency, error recovery and reconciliation in distributed environments.
- Have experience mentoring engineers through technical design, code reviews, problem-solving and complex delivery challenges.
- Have operated business-critical production systems, participated in on-call rotations and managed incidents.
- Have used observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus and Micrometer.
- Be familiar with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing and modern software delivery practices.
Responsibilities
- Define the architecture, technical strategy and engineering roadmap for billing services.
- Architect and build services for fee policy configuration, fee calculation, invoice generation, billing adjustments and reconciliation.
- Design data pipelines and integrations connecting Snowflake, Salesforce, Ledger and internal financial services.
- Establish patterns for financial correctness, including idempotency, traceability, reconciliation, exception handling and audit trails.
- Lead technical design submissions, architecture reviews and service design using domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture and event-driven patterns.
- Design, build and review production code; mentor engineers, provide technical guidance and unblock complex challenges.
- Partner with Product, Finance, Commercial, Back Office, Ledger, Digital Assets and Fiat teams on technical solutions and integrations.
- Set standards for observability, monitoring, performance and incident response, and guide production workload management.
- Set expectations for testing, CI/CD, documentation and technical debt management.
