Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating production software, with technical leadership on large, cross-team projects.
- Deep experience designing distributed systems and backend services, with a focus on correctness, idempotency, and data integrity.
- Hands-on experience with high-volume event-driven architectures and streaming or messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling, plus experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake.
- Ability to design, build, and consume APIs and integrate with third-party systems.
- Production experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably AWS, and with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Experience with observability, SLOs, on-call, incident management, and leading migrations without downtime.
- Ability to identify design flaws and lead incremental improvements while continuing to ship.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including writing design documents and explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical partners.
- Fluency with AI coding assistants and agents, and conversational AI tools, for development and SDLC work.
Responsibilities
- Set architecture and technical direction for Cloud Signals systems, write and socialize design documents, and turn business goals into staged technical plans.
- Lead the design and delivery of the Fivetran and dbt billing integration, including data models, usage pipelines, reconciliation, and migration strategy.
- Evolve Vortex into a reliable, cost-efficient, scalable event platform and ensure data lands correctly and observably in the warehouse.
- Grow the Notification System into a dependable shared service that other teams can adopt.
- Work with Product, Finance, RevOps, Data, and partner engineering teams to fill specification gaps and prototype ideas.
- Define SLOs, improve alerting and runbooks, participate in on-call, and lead incident response and blameless postmortems.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code and design reviews, and model effective, responsible use of AI tools in the SDLC.
- Partner with engineering leadership on roadmaps, staffing, and build-versus-buy decisions across teams and time zones.
