Requirements
- Have 3+ years of production coding experience for a payment processor, processor integration, card issuer or acquirer, fintech ledger, or bank payments platform, including work within the last two years.
- Have written the production code yourself; team management alone is not sufficient.
- Understand the money-movement lifecycle, including authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation, and disputes.
- Understand relevant compliance areas, including PCI DSS and SCA.
- Be comfortable with at least one of Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript.
- Be able to read unfamiliar codebases.
- Explain your reasoning aloud in clear professional English.
- Have reliable availability for scheduled live sessions.
- Show the evidence behind conclusions.
- Complete all solutions, write-ups, and reviews as your own work; LLM-generated code or text is not permitted.
- Use original scenarios and solutions, and do not include code, configuration, or transaction data from current or former employers or clients, or material covered by an NDA.
Responsibilities
- Implement and review payment flows live with a researcher in a sandboxed codebase.
- Explain your reasoning as you work, including the edge cases you check first.
- Review drafted scenarios for realism and difficulty, and flag common payment failure modes.
- Help write scenario acceptance criteria, including tempting wrong moves.
- Write short notes after each session describing your approach and what you verified.
- Incorporate reviewer feedback within agreed turnaround times and flag guideline gaps or edge cases.
