Requirements
- Bring 10+ years of deep backend engineering experience.
- Have a track record of leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives in fast-paced, product-focused environments.
- Demonstrate systems thinking and platform architecture skills, including designing for reuse, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Have experience in a highly regulated industry such as fintech or healthcare; FedRAMP or government domain experience is a plus, not required.
- Be comfortable working in early-stage, 0→1 environments with evolving requirements and consequential technical decisions.
- Demonstrate a product mindset, prioritizing against deadlines and balancing technical rigor with delivery velocity.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Have a proven ability to mentor and develop engineers and raise team-wide technical quality.
- Show curiosity and sound judgment in using AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and architecture for Vanta's government product line.
- Design systems that adapt Vanta's core compliance platform for federal agencies, government vendors, and SLED organizations.
- Lead the design and build of new product capabilities, validating and iterating with early design partners.
- Define reusable abstractions and platform patterns to prevent technical debt as the team scales.
- Partner with adjacent engineering teams on shared infrastructure and tagging systems for government-specific compliance workflows.
- Drive multi-quarter technical initiatives across engineering, product, and go-to-market.
- Translate ambiguous early-stage requirements into durable, scalable solutions.
- Mentor engineers through code review, engineering practice-setting, and technical decision-making.
