Requirements
- Bring 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Have experience with Golang; Golang is strongly preferred.
- Have deep experience with virtual machines, file systems, and Linux.
- Be familiar with tools such as tcpdump, strace, and iptables.
- Have experience building and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Design distributed systems for performance and reliability.
- Have experience with schedulers and orchestrators for containerized and non-containerized workloads, such as Nomad or Kubernetes.
- Bonus: Have worked on low-level virtualization or sandbox execution environments.
- Bonus: Have product engineering experience and care about the developer-facing impact of infrastructure decisions.
- Bonus: Have experience with on-call operations for large-scale distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve the fleet of clusters running instances across regions where customers deploy and run code.
- Write Golang on a daily basis.
- Use Terraform to provision infrastructure and work with Nomad to manage workloads.
- Work with virtual filesystems, Linux primitives, and low-level virtualization.
- Own the reliability and performance of the compute platform, including on-call coverage.
- Collaborate across teams to drive convergence of compute at Vercel.
