Job Details

Have 7+ years of professional experience, primarily focused on backend systems for consumer-facing products.
Apply product acumen to technical tradeoffs in terms of user impact.
Have familiarity with AI agent tooling, including evaluation frameworks, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
Understand complex data structures and algorithms, and develop, apply, and improve solutions.
Use data-driven analytical skills for decision-making, stakeholder alignment, and experiment-oriented delivery.
Have solid project management abilities.
Have previous experience leading and mentoring experienced engineers.
Attend video-conference meetings on camera.
Expect to travel at least twice a year for an all-hands meetup and team retreat.
Commit to an average of 40 hours per week.
Pass a background check as a condition of joining the team.

Lead complex projects across key company-wide objectives.
Write pragmatic, performant, testable code using Perl (Version 5), Go, and Node.js.
Implement AI-assisted answers and integrate them into the Search product while maintaining a privacy-first approach.
Deliver improvements to Duck.ai for free and paying users.
Implement data processing pipelines that maintain search relevancy.
Solve product issues affecting DuckDuckGo’s privacy solution.
Mentor engineers and support their career growth.
