Requirements

  • Have 5+ years of production Rust experience shipping and operating services end to end.
  • Have designed and operated distributed schedulers, control planes, or stateful services at scale.
  • Be able to reason about consistency, partitions, backpressure, and idempotency.
  • Have deep networking knowledge of TCP, TLS, and HTTP at the handshake and packet level.
  • Understand gRPC, long-lived connections across NAT and lossy links, and client behavior on the wire.
  • Have built or operated forward proxies, proxy gateways, or residential/ISP proxy infrastructure.
  • Understand IP reputation, session stickiness, and pool health.
  • Have production operations experience with SLOs, error budgets, observability, incident leadership, and on-call work.
  • Be comfortable with Rust on Windows, Linux, and Android targets, and with FFI boundaries.
  • Have strong written communication for a globally distributed remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Scale CNC into a horizontally scalable fetch scheduler that selects nodes according to geo, site cooldowns, jail, and per-peer quotas.
  • Design and ship the Fleet Manager control plane, including provider adapters, a reconciler, rollout controller, and BigQuery exporter.
  • Operate and improve the CONNECT proxy gateway and edge session handling.
  • Work with the API squad on IP reputation, proxy leases, and request scheduling.
  • Engineer mTLS gRPC, long-polling and streaming over unreliable residential links, NAT behavior, and bandwidth accounting.
  • Define Edge route SLOs and build metrics for peer count, drop-off, and bandwidth.
  • Run safe blue/green rollouts of CNC and peers.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, lead incident post-mortems, and turn operational lessons into platform improvements.
  • Write RFDs and review designs across the squad.
