Requirements
- Have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Have experience with backend languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have a track record of developing highly available distributed systems.
- Have experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Be able to define a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component.
- Design systems with an elegant, simple, and extensible approach.
- Write high-quality code that is understandable and usable by others.
- Be proficient at making significant changes in a large codebase.
- Have developed tools and practices that enable safe changes to a codebase.
- Proactively seek feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, guiding engineers through ambiguity and supporting them throughout delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and product development.
- Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
- Identify project, process, technology, and business issues, and lead efforts to resolve them.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate when needed, and support operations, availability, and on-call efforts.
- Set or improve code review and design standards, and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
- Develop team talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.
