Requirements
- At least 10-15 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large caseloads with quick turnaround times while maintaining mortality standards.
- Strong technical and financial underwriting skills.
- Mastery of underwriting principals, practices, insurance medicine, financial underwriting, field operations, product offerings and life insurance contract law.
- Ability to travel and make presentations to clients and producers.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- CLU, FALU and/or FLMI designation, or working towards completion, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review individual life insurance applications focused on high-net-worth and foreign national clients.
- Assess medical and non-medical risks in alignment with company guidelines and mortality standards.
- Partner with Medical Directors, Underwriting Leadership, and peers on complex or unique cases.
- Apply underwriting authority responsibly and collaborate on higher-limit cases.
- Communicate underwriting decisions with internal partners and distribution teams.
- Educate agents and partners, including leading seminars on underwriting topics.
- Mentor fellow underwriters and support training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes and the customer experience.
- Participate in team, department, and company initiatives and stay current on industry trends.
