Requirements
- Have 7+ years of experience in industrial IT/OT, smart factory, or manufacturing digitalization roles, with architect-level ownership of designs and deployments.
- Bring hands-on experience delivering edge-to-cloud integration in real factory environments.
- Understand ISA-95 integration patterns and manufacturing system layers.
- Understand industrial architectures, including OT network segmentation, DMZ patterns, and edge gateways.
- Have experience with core OT systems including PLC, SCADA, DCS, historians, and MES, and with data acquisition methods.
- Have Azure and/or AWS cloud architecture experience; familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, and modern data platforms is also requested.
- Know networking fundamentals including firewalls, VLANs, routing, certificates, proxies, and troubleshooting in restricted environments.
- Understand identity and access management, including Azure AD/RBAC/Managed Identities or AWS IAM, secrets, and key management.
- Know edge and IIoT protocols and patterns including OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs, store-and-forward, buffering, and offline resilience.
- Have data engineering fundamentals including schema design, time-series concepts, streaming ingestion, partitioning, and data quality checks.
- Understand cloud security practices including least privilege, private networking, key management, audit/logging, and policy enforcement.
- Be able to plan integration tests, govern go-lives, triage incidents, and solve problems in a structured way.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical expert for Smart Factory and edge architectures in multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Review edge, network, cloud, security, and data-model designs and assess implementation feasibility.
- Align with cloud engineers and OT consultants on ISA-95-compliant IT/OT integration across manufacturing layers.
- Define and validate edge-to-cloud data flows, signal and payload requirements, data quality rules, and factory asset models.
- Support industrial connectivity and integration with OT data sources such as historians, SCADA, MES, and related systems.
- Drive ingestion, storage, analytics, and observability architecture using Azure, AWS, and Snowflake services.
- Coordinate site connectivity, network security, and Zero Trust readiness with IT and networking stakeholders.
- Own go-live checklists, support integration testing and cutover, and validate performance, reliability, and operational handover.
- Contribute to Digital Twin concepts combining asset hierarchy, telemetry, and context.
