Requirements

  • Have 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering, with deep hands-on AWS experience.
  • Bring strong infrastructure-as-code skills; CloudFormation is used, and Terraform or similar experience translates.
  • Have a track record of building and running CI/CD pipelines for production systems.
  • Have experience with observability tooling, ideally Datadog, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Understand cloud security, including IAM, encryption, network design, and least-privilege practices.
  • Have experience running containerized workloads with Docker and Amazon ECS on Fargate.
  • Have hands-on experience operating relational databases in production, ideally SQL Server and PostgreSQL on AWS.
  • Take a methodical approach to troubleshooting live production problems.
  • Be comfortable with at least one scripting language and modern AI development tools, and verify work before shipping.
  • Be comfortable sharing on-call, responding calmly to incidents, communicating clearly, and following through on root causes.
  • Communicate clearly with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve AWS environments managed as infrastructure as code with CloudFormation.
  • Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines that move code from commit to production.
  • Build observability in Datadog through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and platform signals.
  • Strengthen security through IAM, least privilege, encryption, network boundaries, and controls supporting the SOC2 program.
  • Automate environment provisioning, deployments, and operational tasks.
  • Share the on-call rotation, lead incident response and postmortems, and drive fixes to prevent recurring problems.
  • Troubleshoot live production issues across containers, databases, and network paths.
  • Support Amazon RDS SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL performance, capacity, backups, and upgrades.
  • Monitor and tune platform cost and performance as the platforms grow.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and mentor the team on operational excellence.
