Required Skills
Python

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, such as Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Advanced Controls, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Professional experience verifying safety-critical systems, ideally in autonomous vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems, robotics, or complex engineering environments.
  • Experience designing test cases from system requirements and evaluating test coverage, including gaps and limitations.
  • Applied statistical knowledge, including sample size selection, confidence assessment, and interpretation of test results and limitations.
  • Proficiency in Python and ability to navigate, understand, and contribute to a large, complex codebase.
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicle requirements, driving behaviors, and systems engineering or design methodologies.
  • Experience with trucking, heavy vehicles, commercial transportation, or large-scale autonomous vehicle applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of machine learning systems, particularly model evaluation and false-positive/false-negative trade-offs, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NHTSA guidance, ISO 26262, and SOTIF is preferred.
  • Experience extracting scenario coverage and exposure metrics from large-scale driving log datasets is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, structure, and document scenario-based test sets for autonomous driving behavior.
  • Define and execute scenario validity checks, review test-set quality, and approve or reject sets for software release evaluation.
  • Establish quality feedback processes for scenarios, taggers, graders, and behavior-verification taxonomies.
  • Convert behavioral expectations into testable acceptance criteria, performance targets, and verification standards.
  • Analyze behavioral failures, find additional instances, quantify exposure, and feed missed issues back into the verification pipeline.
  • Determine whether observed issues are system deficiencies or simulation artifacts, and communicate simulation fidelity gaps to engineering teams.
  • Coordinate verification activities with motion planning, simulation, evaluation, operations, safety methodology, and platform teams.
  • Establish testing frequency and verification requirements for releases and development milestones.
  • Assess autonomous driving performance with evidence to support software readiness and release decisions.
