Requirements
- Have at least five years of professional experience in software application development.
- Have at least four years of hands-on experience with functional programming languages such as Scala, Haskell, Clojure, or Common Lisp.
- Have at least three years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Have at least two years of hands-on experience with DynamoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Understand distributed systems, backend architecture, data streaming, and scalable application development.
- Be able to write clean, efficient, well-tested code and contribute within Agile engineering teams.
- Hold a bachelor's degree, or demonstrate three years of specialized training and/or progressively responsible technology work experience for each missing year of college, in addition to the minimum role experience.
- Familiarity with the ZIO framework and Finagle libraries is advantageous.
- Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or other financial services is advantageous.
- Additional advantageous experience includes open-source web technologies, performance tuning and monitoring, CI/CD pipelines and automation, high-scale server optimization, and cloud migration projects.
- AWS Developer or AWS Solutions Architect certification is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, immutable distributed systems using functional Scala, with an emphasis on data streaming and backend services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to build, test, and deliver cloud-based applications using AWS.
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets production-readiness standards.
- Contribute to backend architecture and implementation using functional programming principles.
- Work with cloud infrastructure and database technologies to support data processing, application performance, and scalability.
- Identify technical issues, evaluate solutions, and deliver improvements.
- Support cloud migration initiatives and optimize application infrastructure.
- Apply performance monitoring, tuning, automation, and deployment practices to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Contribute to code quality and continuous improvement.
