Requirements
- Bring substantial professional experience developing and operating production software.
- Have strong experience in Go, or depth in another backend language and the ability to become productive in Go quickly.
- Have shipped an LLM-backed application, AI agent, or agent-based system into production and supported it after deployment.
- Understand how models, agents, tools, APIs, data sources, services, and application logic interact.
- Demonstrate distributed-systems knowledge, including concurrency, asynchronous processing, queues, idempotency, retries, partial failure, state management, and recovery.
- Have experience designing systems that remain reliable when services, providers, or workflow stages fail.
- Demonstrate testing discipline for systems involving non-deterministic behavior.
- Have strong experience designing and consuming HTTP APIs.
- Have experience with relational databases, SQL, and persistent application state.
- Have experience building, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting backend services in production.
- Understand software architecture, testing, debugging, observability, and production engineering practices.
- Be able to independently own ambiguous technical problems from investigation through production implementation.
- Balance reliability, quality, performance, complexity, and cost using sound analytical judgment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate production-quality software and backend services, primarily using Go.
- Architect AI agents and agent-based systems that use tools and APIs, maintain state and context, and execute multi-step workflows.
- Design durable workflows that checkpoint, resume, retry, and recover from partial failures or interruptions.
- Integrate multiple AI model providers, including routing, failover, rate-limit management, and health monitoring.
- Build safeguards such as structured-output validation, quality gates, evidence validation, and automated recovery.
- Develop testing strategies for non-deterministic AI behavior using fixtures, replayed interactions, regression suites, and evaluation harnesses.
- Develop observability capabilities including tracing, metrics, logging, evaluation data, and replayable execution histories.
- Design human-in-the-loop workflows for review, approval, intervention, and changes to workflow state.
- Build APIs, backend services, relational data models, job-processing infrastructure, and secure document-ingestion methods.
- Optimize systems for reliability, latency, throughput, scalability, output quality, and cost per execution.
