Job Details

Bring deep and current Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
Have recent hands-on experience installing and configuring full SQL Server on a server you manage yourself, using Windows Server on EC2 or on-premises.
Have performed OS-level work beneath a live production instance; managed services such as RDS or Azure SQL do not meet this requirement.
Have Windows Server administration experience, including OS upgrades and migrations.
State the most recent SQL Server upgrade performed, including source and target versions, upgrade approach, year, and Windows Server version pairing.
Have SQL Server high-availability experience with Always On Availability Groups and failover clustering.
Have MySQL administration experience.
Have experience with AWS EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
Apply AI tools such as Claude to day-to-day work.
Have 7+ years of experience.
Have owned a production database estate end to end, including assessing an inherited environment and driving measurable improvement.
Have set data standards and reviewed schema and data-access design across application teams.
Bring experience with ETL pipelines and tools such as Rivery or dbt, data warehouse design and development, S3 data lakes, BI/analytics tools such as Metabase or QuickSight, data governance and data quality practices, and SQL Server migration to a managed service such as RDS.

Take end-to-end ownership of the relational database and data estate.
Assess the inherited database environment.
Perform a time-critical operating-system upgrade.
Set direction and standards for the data environment.
Improve the estate so it can be supported with customers, auditors, and the insurer.
Review schema and data-access design across application teams.
