Job Details

Experience
8+ years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department

Requirements

  • Hold a J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Maintain active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar, or be eligible for in-house/registered counsel status in the state of employment.
  • Have 8+ years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • Bring substantial experience advising on strategic partnerships for the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of technology products in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Demonstrate a track record of drafting, negotiating, and executing complex technology transactions that directly affect business or product strategy.
  • Show versatility across product and transactional matters and willingness to build skills outside core practice areas.
  • Demonstrate judgment advising amid ambiguity and interest in novel legal questions.
  • Be able to identify opportunities for speed and efficiency, including leveraging existing AI tools and helping build improved tools.
  • Preferred: in-house legal experience with a mature U.S. technology company.
  • Preferred: experience with hardware products or hardware-focused businesses.
  • Preferred: experience supporting post-acquisition integration of products, technologies, or businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel product and research teams with practical legal guidance across the full product lifecycle.
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute strategic partnerships, licensing, joint development, and supply and manufacturing arrangements.
  • Shape playbooks, processes, and infrastructure for a product legal function.
  • Collaborate with product, research, engineering, finance, privacy, compliance, trade, and other stakeholders, as well as outside counsel.
  • Translate complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for non-lawyers and express product, engineering, and business strategy in terms that inform legal advice and priorities.
