Requirements
- Have a BS/MS in Computer Science or an equivalent degree or training.
- Have 5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
- Have 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, including React, building production-grade user experiences.
- Have 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern backend web technologies, including Node.js.
- Be able to reason about scalable, maintainable service design.
- Understand software design principles and modern engineering practices, including work with complex systems and large codebases.
- Be able to articulate technical concepts clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Have experience with data stores such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Mongo, or Snowflake (preferred).
- Have hands-on cloud infrastructure experience using tools such as Serverless, Datadog, Terraform, or Docker (preferred).
- Have proficiency in automated testing techniques using frameworks such as Jest or WebdriverIO (preferred).
- Have experience with Java (preferred).
- Prior education or ed-tech experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Write, test, and ship code across the stack, primarily using React and TypeScript on the front end, with Node.js and AWS underneath.
- Own production code, including monitoring, debugging, and incident response.
- Improve code clarity and maintainability, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and refactor code where appropriate.
- Raise the engineering team's level through code review, pairing, and mentorship.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to support software development while applying independent judgment.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and education experts to translate complex requirements into usable software.
