Requirements
- Typically 5+ years building and shipping production software.
- Track record of leading multi-sprint projects from design to production in a team setting.
- Strong JavaScript and Node.js experience.
- Strong React experience.
- Solid relational database skills; PostgreSQL preferred.
- Strong system design fundamentals, including data modeling, API design, and articulating tradeoffs.
- Experience owning production systems, including on-call, incident response, and observability.
- Hands-on, day-to-day use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, with examples of their effectiveness and how you verify their output.
- Experience mentoring other engineers.
- Strong written communication in a remote, async environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead multi-sprint projects from design through rollout, turning loosely defined problems into plans and actionable work.
- Design systems and document decisions, tradeoffs, and alternatives.
- Partner with Product to define scope, MVP cuts, phasing, and tradeoffs, and measure whether shipped work helped customers.
- Use AI coding agents and assistants across development, including exploration, testing, debugging, refactoring, migrations, and code review.
- Automate repetitive engineering work with scripts, agent workflows, and checks.
- Build observability, feature flags, and rollback paths into production work.
- Participate in triage and on-call; lead incident response and complete postmortem follow-ups.
- Apply data minimization, residency, retention, access controls, and secure coding practices to systems handling customer and personal data.
- Review code and designs, mentor engineers, and interview candidates.
