Requirements
- Have at least 7 years of software engineering experience.
- Have experience as a technical lead, founding engineer, CTO of a small company, or primary engineer responsible for maintaining and developing a product.
- Bring production experience in at least three technology stacks and the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
- Demonstrate strong hands-on development skills and a track record of delivering production software in established codebases.
- Have experience taking over complex or poorly maintained codebases and improving engineering practices and team momentum.
- Use AI coding agents daily and be able to explain and demonstrate your development workflows and setup.
- Demonstrate the ability to mentor engineers, improve code quality, and establish effective software development processes.
- Exercise independent judgment, ownership, and problem-solving skills without close day-to-day supervision.
- Collaborate with general managers, business stakeholders, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Work directly in the codebase and deliver working software to customers frequently.
- Improve the software development lifecycle with continuous integration, automated testing, staging environments, feature flags, reliable deployments, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Coach engineers, improve code quality, share engineering practices, and help the team become more independent.
- Partner with the general manager to prioritize initiatives, evaluate trade-offs, and shape the product roadmap.
- Introduce and optimize coding-agent workflows to reduce development time and improve productivity.
- Build production-ready AI capabilities involving retrieval, tool use, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails.
- Identify technical bottlenecks, strengthen architectures, and modernize codebases without unnecessary full rewrites.
- Make technical decisions, own outcomes, and collaborate with business operators and customers.
