Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience with LAMP: Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.
- Have at least 2 years of management or leadership experience in a technology-oriented organization.
- Be well versed in supporting web servers.
- Have a strong background with SAN storage, including NFS and iSCSI.
- Be well versed in the ELK stack: Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats and Logstash.
- Have experience adding and removing nodes, expanding and rebuilding clusters, and using InfluxDB.
- Have TCP/IP knowledge, including BGP and OSPF.
- Have hands-on Linux systems administration and advanced network administration experience, including routing, switching and security.
- Have experience with MySQL maintenance and troubleshooting, LAN/WAN/VPN, firewalls, cloud technologies, bare-metal hardware, load balancing, backups, systems security and automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Know HTTP, SSL, DNS and SMTP protocols, and understand the software development lifecycle.
- Have strong problem-solving skills, written and verbal skills, documentation practices and organizational practices.
- Be available for the on-call rotation: 12pm–8pm EST for one week every four weeks.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Systems department and oversee production websites and networks.
- Supervise, coach, mentor and provide day-to-day technical assistance to Systems Administration staff.
- Maintain vendor relationships for technical infrastructure.
- Coordinate website projects with Development Team Leads and Project Management, and approve releases to production.
- Participate in website planning and project discussions with Senior Management.
- Assess systems risks and implement appropriate changes.
- Monitor systems and network security, and report concerns to the CTO.
- Design site network architecture, including capacity planning, hardware, infrastructure, software integration and performance tuning.
- Serve as the escalation point for production issues and coordinate their resolution.
- Manage monitoring, redundancy and backups, and participate in the on-call rotation.
