Substantial experience building and operating highly scalable production systems, with demonstrated Staff-level impact or equivalent scope.
Deep expertise in user-facing web applications built with JavaScript/TypeScript and React, or backend services built with languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
Ability to reason across the full stack and engage with backend architecture and system tradeoffs.
Track record of setting technical direction and delivering complex initiatives from ambiguous requirements to production outcomes.
Strong architectural judgment, including assessing tradeoffs, establishing system boundaries, and evolving systems as requirements and scale change.
Experience with React architecture and component-driven development, or backend data modeling, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
Deep knowledge of a primary programming language and experience establishing standards beyond an immediate team.
Understanding of performance, reliability, and security, including accessibility or backend scalability, observability, data integrity, and failure handling.
Experience defining API contracts and shaping CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and safe deployment practices.
Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Copilot to ship production code, with appropriate validation.
Experience mentoring engineers, building alignment across teams, and communicating technical decisions clearly.

Set technical direction for major areas of the Markets platform and guide implementation across teams.
Design and deliver scalable systems and customer experiences, contributing hands-on across the stack.
Turn ambiguous engineering problems into proposals, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes.
Own initiatives from discovery and technical specifications through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Define architecture and integration patterns for frontend applications, backend APIs, and event-driven systems.
Guide feature flag and A/B testing capabilities so teams can validate ideas safely.
Improve engineering standards through reviews, testing, observability, and safe deployment practices.
Establish standards for AI-assisted development, including review expectations and validation strategies.
Mentor engineers and help teams make sound technical decisions independently.
