Requirements
- Have 5+ years of backend engineering experience and deep Python expertise.
- Bring experience building and scaling microservices architectures and high-throughput systems.
- Understand third-party API integrations, including webhooks, callbacks, idempotency, and retry policies.
- Have strong Docker or containerization experience and a solid grasp of AWS infrastructure, including Lambda, SQS/SNS, and cloud networking.
- Be familiar with event-driven architecture and messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Be willing to learn and work with Perl production code; Perl experience is a plus.
- Have a track record of owning features from design to production and supporting or mentoring engineers.
- Communicate strongly in English, both written and verbal.
- FastAPI and AsyncIO experience are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support and extend the existing Perl-based payment gateway while designing and building high-performance Python microservices.
- Architect and implement scalable, distributed Python services to replace legacy components.
- Integrate third-party APIs and external payment services, ensuring robust error handling and seamless transaction flows.
- Lead code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and identify system bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with DevOps to improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines and architect solutions using AWS services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in distributed systems.
- Own features from design through production and support or mentor other engineers.
